What does it look like when we combine drones, 3D modeling, and 3D printing? The result is a precise, physical 3D printed model of the space – ideal for presentations, gifts, or planning. That’s exactly what we did for the Kanfanar Tobacco Factory area, where we used aerial photos to create a detailed 3D model optimized for 3D printing.
1. Recording the area with a drone
To start the project, we used a professional drone to capture the entire space from the air. The aerial photography provided the basis for an accurate geometric reconstruction..
2. 3D modeling based on the actual situation
Based on the photos, a digital 3D model of the entire complex was created. The model has been optimized to be suitable for 3D printing of the model:
- Areas where a high level of detail is not required have been simplified
- Important volumes and characteristic elements of the buildings have been highlighted
- A format has been prepared that can be printed quickly and accurately on an FDM printer
3. 3D printing of the finished model
After the model has been created, all components are printed in high quality. The finished model is a physical representation of the space – scaled, modular and ready for display.
Who is this solution useful for?
Creating physical models has a wide range of applications:
- Architectural and urban presentation
- Industrial documentation and archives
- Marketing and business presentations
- Educational and museum purposes
